Winter 2014 Nail Trends

Christmas party season is here and London has moved to 5th gear for a high octane festive party marathon. And of course party preparation includes that perfect manicure. Here’s our guide to the ultimate nail colours to carry you through to the new year.

Dark Berries

Last week Marsala was announced as Panatone’s colour of 2015, but we are certainly not going to wait until the new year to wear this gorgeous shade. Marsala is a rich and dark berry with warm tones which are prefect for the Christmas period. Rich berry shades compliment a lighter winter skin well. Team this shade with longer rounded nails for a classic manicure finish for a formal dinner. Short squoval dark nails will make for a contemporary relaxed look.

Naturals + Nudes

This trend splits into two camps this winter. The pink girly nudes conjuring up images of country walks on snowy days, (no Mariah C., we are not thinking of you). These pinky tones look natural and understated and are a great why to keep your manicure low maintenance during the party season. In the opposing camp we have the city girl’s muted camels and minks. All nudes look best on short and squoval nails to guard against a sickly sweet look.

Liquid Metal

Metallic nails are back this winter with a vengeance. Seek out molton hues which fall in the metallic mid point between silver and gold. High quality varnishes should be not only rich but achieve a high gloss finish. Bagley Mishcka and Libertine.

Glitter will always be big for party season. Nothing feels more festive than sparkly finish to your manicure. Whether it’s just a sprinkle of glitter on the nails tips or full on nail coverage glitter is back with a bang this Christmas.
